COVID-19 & Immigration to New Zealand
Immigrating to New Zealand from South Africa during the pandemic does not have to be a tedious process. Here’s how to make it an easier process.
New Zealand border entry requirements
Entry into New Zealand is strictly controlled, and foreigners are required to present a negative Covid-19 test result to enter the country. This rule is also applicable to people who have already received their double vaccination against the Covid-19 virus. It is important to make sure that your test provider can also provide you with pre-departure documentation to the exact specifications of the New Zealand government. The documentation provided by a free testing station might not be accepted, so double check before your test. The time limit of the test sample is taken, and the test result returned should be within 72 hours of your first international travel’s scheduled departure time.
Managed Isolation Allocation System
When travelling to New Zealand from any country, you are required to complete a mandatory 7-day stay in quarantine. However, it is not required for travellers from a quarantine-free travel zone to quarantine. You will not be allowed to board your flight to New Zealand without a voucher confirming your allocation to a Managed Isolation facility. Book here https://allocation.miq.govt.nz/portal/
When will New Zealand borders open for international travel?
The borders and visa processing will continue to open up during the first half of 2022. New Zealand citizens and permanent visa holders are allowed to travel to New Zealand.
