Do I qualify for a fast-tracked Australian Global Talent Visa?

Introduced last year with a target of 5000 visas available, the Australian government just announced a threefold increase to 15,000 global talent visas for the 2020/21 year. These visas will receive priority processing within +/- 2 months. 

In particular, this Visa aims to target the following seven sectors:

  • AgTech
  • Space and advanced manufacturing
  • FinTech
  • Energy and mining technology
  • MedTech
  • Cyber security
  • Quantum Information, Advanced Digital, Data Science and ICT

To be eligible to apply under this program, applicant must: 

Fall under one of the seven targeted sectors outlined above; and

have in internationally recognised record of exceptional and outstanding achievements in their field, and either:

  •  be able to attract a salary in Australia of AUD $153,600 per annum; or
  •  have completed their Honours/Masters degree with an 80% average or higher or PhD within the last three years (or          be within six months of submitting their thesis).

So, if you are:

  • an exceptionally talented individual
  • an exceptionally talented individual with a business
  • a high-value business
  • a representative for one of the above

then you may be eligible to apply for a global talent independent (GTI) Visa for Australia.

There is no age limit to apply for this Visa all immediate family members will be included in your application, entitling you all to free healthcare in Australia and free education within the government education sector up to and including secondary school. The success rate for this Visa is currently 99.5%.

Applicants must meet a high standard and show an exceptional track record of professional achievement. This may include senior roles, patents, professional awards and international publications memberships.

Application is by invitation only and you require nomination by an appropriate body, being an eligible individual or organisation with a national reputation in your field.
